Inside the Supply Chain and Purchasing Industry

The whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts

April 25, 2013

The Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) and Supply Chain & Logistics Association Canada (SCL) have announced their amalgamation intent.

Subject to member approval the new organization is poised to become the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA). A news release received by TMA today, outlined this as a ‘chance to re-envision the future for Canadian supply chain professionals through advocacy, research, education and employment opportunities, (and) comes as we prepare to implement a new three-year strategic plan’, according to PMAC’s President and CEO Cheryl Paradowski, who will lead the new association. For more detailed information and the complete announcement, kindly refer to www.pmac.ca or www.sclcanada.org.

When asked for an opinion Tim commented, "I’ve worked closely with members of both of these fine Supply related associations for years, and served on numerous committees populated with individuals representing both groups. Both of these driving forces definitely complement one another, and now when combined, should provide not only a greater depth and synergy to represent the entire Supply Chain right across Canada, but return an even greater value to membership held by supply professionals as well, no matter their job title or function."

Wow, big changes indeed, and we wish them good luck in their new endeavors.

And speaking of new endeavors, we have some breaking supply chain opportunities, right across Canada. For our friends in the Vancouver area, we have three opportunities available. Two are for Procurement Officers, (one full time, perm and another short term contract.) The other is for a Manager, Procurement as well, and each would (ideally) require someone with a public sector perspective, and knowledgeable in the procurement and contracting of SERVICES.

For those open to relocation to rural Ontario, we have two excellent positions for those possessing (studying toward, or interested in obtaining) their Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) accreditations. Ideal candidate brings 10+ years of contracting knowledge and experience in EPC, EPCM or large facilities/projects for our Supplier Relationship Manager role. The other, for a Procurement Engineer is looking for a supply professional with 2+ years experience in an Engineering function (design, systems, maintenance, commissioning, etc.), and perhaps be a P. Eng, or in the process (or interest in) obtaining their license.

Finally, we have a unique role for a Supply Chain Systems Analyst out of Saskatoon (Job 706) that is specifically looking for someone with a solid I.T. perspective, ideally a university degree in Computer Science, or related field, 7+ years in distribution, inventory, merchandising control analysis for multiple locations. Designing and implementing supply chain SYSTEMS and configuration. Those versed in relational database architecture, SQL, Server and Oracle/SQL Plus. Experience with JDA, PMM, Manugistics, and/or Space Planning would be an asset. (Generous relocation package and benefits package available.)

Finally, spring is finally (?) here, and now is the time to brush off and update that resume, and make sure we have your latest information – cell numbers, new educational credits, e-mail addresses, etc. You never know when that next DREAM job will come along. Be prepared by keeping us updated. Kindly send your latest resume to updates@timmooreassociates.com.
