It’s fairly typical depending on the industry or particular sector you’re in, but other firms strategically want to get a head start on the New Year’s SC “talent’ competition. “We always see a big rush at the beginning of the year, as some firms have their fiscal year coincide with the calendar year, and come Jan 2nd, they all have NEW budgets and NEW requirements for SC professionals. However, there are some smart firms that are initiating their searches NOW ahead of the game to beat the rush..,” emphasizes Tim. For those of you that missed Tim’s Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) webinar presentations on Social media and your professional image, you’re reminded that a recent survey revealed that more employers are checking your presence on social media (such as Linkedin, Facebook, and even Twitter), BEFORE extending an offer. In fact, over a third of employers surveyed admitted to using social media sites to research potential employees… and out of those, 34% FOUND REASONS TO DECLINE hiring a candidate. Make sure your resume is properly crafted and your social media presence is professional looking too.
