Inside the Supply Chain and Purchasing Industry

The Canadian market is still hot for Supply Chain

November 18, 2013

Winter is quickly approaching but it hasn’t cooled off the HOT market for supply chain professionals across Canada.

We have FOUR new orders that have just launched, and their diversity gives you an idea of the strengthening Canadian economy and demand for supply practitioners in Edmonton, Kitchener/Guelph, Ottawa, etc.

The Office is abuzz with work and Tim has been on the phone with candidates, clients and references from as far away as Saudi Arabia, the U.K., and the United States. “Jeez, I just interrupted someone’s shrimp cocktail, having lunch in Miami, at a posh hotel overlooking Biscayne Bay,” adds Tim. (We inserted this for our friends and clients in Alberta that have been digging out from snow this week.)

Job746 out of the Kitchener/Guelph area is interesting in that it’s for a Manager, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance – for an initial 6 month period. If you know of anyone that knows various regulatory agencies such as NRCAN, EPA, CEC and DOE, and has a strong quality assurance and inspection background, PLEASE forward this notice along to them and direct them to our website at timmooreassociates.com.

For those in the Ottawa area, Job745 is for a Buyer, Test Systems, and requires those who are familiar with complex systems such as those specifically within the mechanical, electrical, and fluids realm. Be involved with not only sourcing, procurement, warehousing and logistics, but also negotiating of contractual terms, payment terms and milestones, payment guarantees (Bonds and Letters of Credit) regarding timing and cost targets. (“Those with welding, a technical background, assembly and experienced working with Project Engineers and Designers would be ideal,” advises Tim.)

In the Edmonton area, two Supply Chain Specialists are required, one with strong background in industrial PROJECTS AND CONSTRUCTION (job – 744) , the other with a focus on CONTRACTS (job – 743). Good relocation package included and generous 15% target bonus, which is DOUBLED, if achievements are met and over target. (Which for this firm, has been fairly consistent over the past few years)

Finally, Tim will be speaking at Fanshawe College in London, to students, SCMAO members, and interested participants. “Professional Designations: What you Need to Know” is the topic, and no doubt Tim will offer helpful career advice, resume tips, interviewing ideas and other ways to effectively market your professional designation. Interested? Please find more information on the Supply Chain Management Association of Ontario (SCMAO) website in the events area at http://www.scmao.ca/Events.aspx, to register. A nominal fee is requested with all proceeds funding the Student Club for Supply Management. Support the next generation of supply professionals and get lots of helpful ‘TIPS FROM TIM,’ at the same time.

Whether or not you’re thinking of making a job change in the near future, if you’ve made changes to your resume (cell number, e-mail address change, new educational credits, etc.), you should update your resume on file with TMA. You never know when that next big Supply Chain opportunity may come along! Please send your latest resume to updates@timmooreassociates.com and it will be placed into our CONFIDENTIAL database. (We do not post resumes on the web for anyone to see; and any and all information collected is held strictly confidential.)
